Stark Raving Mad VII (Swan 601)

The Nautor Swan 601, "Stark Raving Mad VII", was added to the SRM program in January 2012. She is the former "Artemis" - spec'd for a Swedish owner by Russel Coutts. She was raced originally in the Med. She was subsequently sold to a US owner and renamed "Aquarius". As "SRM VII", during the first six months of 2012 she underwent an extensive refit. He topsides, interior, and rigging were taken down to carbon, she was faired, and new epoxies and paints were applied. New Carbon rigging was installed. New systems were added including a generator, air conditioning and entertainment systems in the saloon and each cabin. An entire new suite of North Sails was added. Her debut race was the New York YC's Annual Regatta where she placed 2nd in Class 2. She placed 8th Overall (out of over 120 boats) and 5th in Class (Maxi racer Class) in the 2012 Newport to Bermuda Race. Following Bermuda, she was shipped to the Med where she competed in the Rolex Swan Cup (Sardinia) and the Voiles de St Topez (France). She took a 2nd place in each. In November '12, she was shipped to Florida then on to the Caribbean. She competed in the inaugural Rolex Swan Cup BVI where she won her class. In June 2012 she won her class and the "Onion Patch" Trophy in the 2014 Newport to Bermuda Race. She went again to the Caribbean in 2015 where she took a 2nd in Class at the Rolex Swan Cup, and a 3rd in Class at Les Voiles de St. Barths. She won back to back San Diego Yacht Club "Hot Series" in each of 2016 and 2017, beating over 130 boats in each. Her home port is currently, San Diego, CA.
