SRM IX (Carkeek 47)
2nd (out of 5)
2nd
We came in 2nd in class (1st in the Rolex Team race) losing to “Interlodge” on corrected time by 1minute 4 seconds. We had an excellent start and sailed a very good first leg. What we learned this race was the crew of a TP52 does not know how to sail that boat. Upwind, they over-sheet the main and pinch all the time which results in them being higher than us and just about same speed. If we get caught in their wind shadow, we are hurt. The Jib not on the halyard lock on the final upwind leg hurt more. Between those two items, we had a very good chance to win.

SRM IX (Carkeek 47)
4 / 1st among "Fast 40s"th (out of 6)
4th
4th in ORC Class B. There were six races over two days. We had a "race within the race" versus "Interlodge", a very fast Botin 44 sailed very well and in excellent condition. It came down to the last race which we managed to win by three seconds. Conditions ranged from light to medium breeze. There was a breezier day of racing in the Around the Island Race on Friday - scored separately. Our class was composed of three TP52s and three "Fast 40s". The three 52s took top three positions. It's nearly impossible to beat those boats on corrected time as their rating is so advantageous. Even after beating a 52 to the top mark, they still corrected out ahead of us. For fair racing, would be nice to see them in their own class.

SRM IX (Carkeek 47)
4th
4th
4th in ORC Class A. Focused the racing on the other fast 40-footers in our class. Other than the starts, the Maxi72 and the TP52, sailed their own races in their own waters. Managed some fantastic starts on Day 2. Frustrated with a jib that would not get on lock pre-start race 3 on day 2 and, as a result, started about one minute late. While not a podium finish, speed and performance were good for using old, beat up sails. New suit of sails coming in July. As Connor McGregor (UFC - MMA) says "when we are not winning, we are learning." Lots to be learned on this new (to us) boat.

SRM VIII (C&C 30OD) (C&C 30 OD)
2nd (out of 5)
2nd
2nd in in the C&C 30 OD Class. Very tight racing among the top 3 boats. 2 points separated 1st and 2nd place. 1st out since last fall and 1st day on the water on this boat since last September. Lots of opportunity to improve this summer with more time on the water.

Strong comeback and nice results! Around the Island Race presented very challenging conditions - with three restarts (wind stop / start). Finish was one for the record books - dozens of big boats converging on the finish line at the same time - including a few 12 meters. Definitely some carnage. Day one of the annual presented light, shift air, and Day two of the regatta presented big breeze and sea state. We were the only 30 that did not wipe out downwind - likely thanks to our Thursday practice and wipe-out there.

3rd (out of 3)
First buoy racing on the brand new C&C 30 OD "Stark Raving Mad, VIII". Very exciting One Design Class Racing. Boat showed great turns of speed - especially downwind. Great results in races 1 & 2, with some challenges on starts in races 3 & 4. Still managed a podium finish for the first regatta.

SRM VII (Swan 601)
2nd
SRM took a 2nd in Class in a very competitive IRC 3 class at the 2014 New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta. Over two days, the Race Committee was only able to complete two races due to very light and variable conditions. In Saturday's single race the breeze essentially shut down just yards from the finish. SRM took a 5th in that race. However, Sunday SRM took a 1st in more consistent winds. Our combined score of 6 points gave us a 2nd for the regatta - just one point out of 1st to the Ker 43 "Otra Vez". So, for one weekend and two regattas now complete SRM took a 2nd in each. Good prep for the Bermuda race which starts Friday, June 20

SRM VI (Swan 42) (Club Swan 42)
9th
A very challenging regatta - first time this year in winds under 15 knots. Very shifty wind conditions. Though SRM showed moments of speed, much of the time we were caught on the wrong side of the course. Our starts were not up to our usual standard, and our upwind speed was below target much of the time with challenges with the mainsail trim. "Impetuous" had a very strong showing, and "Arethusa" and "Apparition" also did well. The only consolation was that we were able to beat "Daring". Our coach, James Lyne, was very good, but it was too little to late to make a material difference for this event.

SRM VII (Swan 601)
2nd
Debut race on SRM VII, the Swan 601. Result was a 2nd in Class, but very close to 1st in Class. It came down to the last race, and "Ptarmagin" (new Kerr 43) went left, and left played out.
