2nd in Class (K), and 3rd overall (out of about 80 boats). A strong performance - especially considering five of our 12 crew were brand new to this boat. Missed 1st in class and 1st overall by about two minutes. Looking back on the course, we could have found a few times to make that up. Winds from the S at about 12 knots with some gusty condition to 15-16 knots. Mostly non-planing speeds downwind. Need to hop on a place as soon as the breeze is a steady 15 knots or more.

1st in Class; 1st to Finish; 1st Elapsed Time - and a moral victory for 1st Overall on Corrected time. Though the results show us as 2nd overall, the boat scored in 1st place “Space Cadet” is a VX One that sailed with an improper rating. They used a trapeze (as everyone saw), and allegedly had 150lbs taken off the bulb and was never remeasured and re-rated for these changes. Apparently, the other VX owners (all Class E) approached the owner requesting he withdraw. He has refused. Very disappointing lack of sportsmanship and fair play.

1st Overall out of over 100 boats and 1st in Class (F). Start postponed due to no winds early. Then we started in a light/moderate easterly that clocked to SE. Counter clockwise around Conanicut Island. 1st boat all the way to Beavertail. Link to media post:https://www.jamestownpress.com/articles/stark-raving-mad-viii-wins-local-sailing-contest/

Fast Race around the island sailed under the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, a tropical storm while over the race course. Breeze rapidly diminished from 30 knots to 12-15 knots over 2-3 hours as it went past. Fun ride - hit speeds of 18 knots with the 3A. Took a 2nd in class with only a custom 35' racer beating us.
