1st in Class 2, 3rd overall (out of 35) in this annual 17-mile pursuit race from Long Beach to Newport Beach. 1st race in Newport for the J/100. Started with a beat to Queen's Gate off of the Port of Long Beach, then a broad reach toward Newport. The winds lightened and backed as we approached Newport. Had a clump of kelp on our keel - need to watch / check more carefully.
